It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye

What made you decide to start a blog like this?

I was a big fan of "The Darth Side" and I was sorry when it ended. I was re-reading the blog and I found a link to Yoda's blog through the comments. I was impressed by the idea of a group of linked Star Wars journals, so I decided to create my own.

Why did you choose your particular character?

I chose Captain Typho because he's a familiar face from Episodes II and III, though he doesn't get to say much. His background hasn't been fully mapped out, so I have a lot of room to play with. The best thing about Typho is that because of the nature of his job as Padme's chief of security, he logically would have a lot of contact with more important characters -- Anakin, Obi-Wan, Palpatine, 3PO, Yoda, Jar-Jar -- so he can have opinions about them even though they don't pay much attention to him on screen.

Having said that, if I had jumped in sooner I'd have played Siri, Mace or Kit.

If you post often, where do get ideas?

I just started Typho's blog yesterday. I would like to post daily, but we'll see. I have a lot of ideas about Typho's background and motivations, but what I hope to do is "riff" off other people's posts. It's more fun to play off of other people.

Speaking of what goes on "behind the scenes," why not post tips and tricks we've learned from blogging?

One important thing I've learned is that when you cut and paste from Word you sometimes carry over hidden characters that really screw up your RSS feed! People may not be able to read your posts in a news aggregator, so keep that in mind.

Where do you find pictures for use on your blog?

I Google for images and doctor them in Photoshop. Going forward, I may use screen captures from the Star Wars Galaxies online game or create new images using Poser.

If you measure stats for your blog, what site or company do you use?

I haven't been doing that. Any recommendations?

  1. Are you 14-year-olds freaked out by old folks like me? (smile)

  2. Does anyone here play Star Wars Galaxies? All of my friends have dropped off one by one, but I'm still hanging in there. If you play and we're on the same server, we should hook up.

Cool, Count. And maybe Typho can run into Dooku at an art class, or something?
