So far so good...

So how is everyone holding up out there? Now that the first week (more or less) of Survivor is done, what do you think? Is it too slow? Are there any changes you would want to make? I like the suggestion of posting the winner on the secret site when I post the challenge so that all of you can respond to it in your posts. The voting, I thought, worked out fine. Now some of you are wondering just who voted for you. (?)

Anyway, I hope most of you are not avoiding your own Blogs because of the Survivor thing. I didn’t mean to hijack everyone else’s creativity there. We could always have our blogs and the Survivor blog on different timelines. (They always film the show in advance then tell the others they can’t disclose what happened until it airs…)

So I was thinking, because this is going to be a bit of an investment in time, I thought I’d add a final prize of my own.

The final winner, in addition to their character winning a million credits, will also receive these 5 comic books.

Tales of the Jedi circa 1983. All five issues in NM condition from my personal collection. Just to sweeten the pot.

Everyone’s posts on the Survivor are great. Half my work is hooked on it, and I’m looking forward to adding a few twists of my own.

I think it is going great so far.

As far as going too slow, I think there is a danger of that if we only post about our 'experiences' regarding each week's challenge. So the sandstorm thing was a good idea. At least a couple of us should post every week about something other than the challenge.

Now that several of our players are back from vacation, I'm sure we'll get more posts during the week.

Eric, the prize offering is very generous of you! Before, I was only concerned about being funny when it came to the Survivor blog. Now, I think I might actually want to win!

Eric the Cat ('e's a 'appy cat),
'tis great fun thus far.
I'm just not sure about the final length of the game. Will it really take another 15 weeks? In then end, that will run through the rest of the summer and into fall. That's a serious undertaking. If we can do it, then let's do so with cowbells on.
If not, is there anyway that we can have a week or two with multiple challenges? If the whole crew is around, then we can get the complete reactions from both teams and possibly accelerate the 'you're fired' process.
As for updating one's own blog, I think we are still rocking and rolling with that. However some blogs dabble with the Survivor stuff and others avoid it. Do we want to avoid any big linked plots on the main blogs until Survivor is over? Will that become a problem if we go for the full 15 weeks?
Also, free funny books! Eric, you are so cool. And I am not kissing ass. I mean that you are cool and comics are cool and that's just cool.

I far, so good. It's tough to come up with storylines that cross over, but I think I have come up with a good idea by being on Tatooine while at the same time I am receiving updates from back home via e-mail. Now I just have to come up with some more creative ideas for both!

I think it's cool and going great. I really appreciate your thought and effort in the thing. I know it can be heavy.

I'm going to attempt to carry mine on separately.

The whole timeline thing between the "survivor" and my blog is too much for me to fathom and try to sort out. Actually, the timelines of everything in my blog is snafu, anyway. I'm working on a post right now featuring Darth Vader, Darth Tyrannus and Darth Maul simultaneously. Time is irrelevant to their wicked dealings!

Aside from that, I think I can go weeks and weeks, I have a few cowbells. Then again, the accelerated thing could be good, too, but you may want to wait until there are fewer players to post stuff. Right now, if everyone writes one general post and one challenge post each week - that's 30 right there...It may be nuts for everyone to keep up with everyone else if you doubled the challenges too soon.

It might be a good thing to do once we're down to around 10 or 8, or even 6 players total (or so)...

But whatever - I hope to keep on regardless! You're the ringmaster - Mr. main man JJ.

Nice idea, Drew
As we get fewer people I think I will double up on the challenges to move things a little quicker.

I don't mind going 15 weeks, but I wouldn't be surprised to see people start dropping out even four weeks into the game. It's hard to stay in character and attempt to be funny consistently. And some of us insist on adding funny pictures to their posts, so that's an extra couple of hours right there.

I agree with Rebecca -- we might want to do two challenges a week. Or maybe every other week is a two challenge week? Even that would speed things up.

Fluke, I doubt everyone will write a general post and a challenge-specific post each week. Some people will probably be content to keep their character in the game through comments to other people's posts.

Palps, I think the "emails from home" thing is working well for you. You can roll with that indefinitely. I think I can roll with Typho exchanging stories with people on the flight over to Tatooine for awhile. At least until I write myself into a corner. ;)

Um, everybody pretty much said what I was going to say, but I'll just add that I think it's going great so far - and I agree that we should probably post about more than just the challenges. And the sand storm was a great idea!

I've been trying to post in my own blog as much as possible, mostly things that don't have much to do with the game - mostly because I don't know how linked we want these things to be. *shrug*

It might be hard to keep up if it lasts that long. I agree w. the two challenges a week idea.

Eric, about the comic books... *tear* that's the nicest thing I've seen.

I guess I should be updating more often. To the blogmobile!

Thanks for all the good ideas. I appreciate it.
I think a little later on when there are fewer people, I will double up on challenges every other week, (which, I think equals out to be two times).
Also next week (spoiler here)will be a special reward challenge only -- so both teams will be going to tribal council. This should help speed things along too.
