The Beast

I am sure that you have all seen the trailers for the X3 movie. I saw the latest one when I went to see King Kong the other day.

I did not realize that Kelsey Grammar is playing The Beast. Now that I look at this still, I can see it.

It isn't due out until June.

Mr. Spork...

Don't feel too bad Mr. Spork, I found this re-mix video by your captain.

Have fun with it.

A Quick Survey

So, I did a quick survey of all the blogs listed on this site. It is my estimate that the half-life of a blog is about four months. After that a person looses interest. It seems that some of this comes from the difficulty in keeping the character fresh and having new ideas to write about. I am sure that there are many other reasons.

So, kudos to you who have survived for so long. I hope that I can do the same, and I do appreciate any feed-back or help that you can give.

Long live the Queen

Maybe I did the post about the queen a bit prematurely, but I wanted to get that character up and running.

I'm not a huge fan of how the queen looks, I like the model used, but I obviously just drew over her eyes to try to make them somewhat alien. I also like the idea that she has taken on this form in order to communicate with humanoids but her eyes obviously tip off that she is different.

Therefore, as a competition, I hereby decree that if someone with superior eye manipulating skills can make Queen Galacta IX look better, I will use that one from henceforth and so on. I will even retcon my previous entries with her in it.

Included in this post are the three pictures of her that I have used in the past. The one at the top is her current avatar. If you can guess how I did that, you get a No-prize as well.

It'll be cool, just like when they said that Klingons always had ridges on their forehead.

Hey, I'm back, I know I've been away for ages but I'm all sorted now so I am going to get Obi back in some training.

How to Change Your Comment Link Wording

  • Copy your entire template and paste it into your text editor (Notepad, Word, etc.).

  • Save a copy of the unaltered template (in case you make a mistake).
  • Search for the string:

    <$BlogItemCommentCount$> comments

  • Replace the word comments with whatever phrase you like.
  • Don’t remove the space in front of the word comments.

Example from my template:

<$BlogItemCommentCount$> eyes poked out by lemurs

  • Copy the altered template back into Blogger.

  • Save and republish your blog.

Picture of the Week

I agree with Jim/Jabafatboy with one thing. Stormtroopers got to go sometime! Cool Picture, eh? :)
Not really!

What made you start a blog like this?
Like AOC, I found Mister Yoda's blog and found it funny, charming and somewhat insightful. I was (and still am) reading it almost everyday.

When I was commenting all the time I felt I was missing out on the fun of having a character.

Why did you choose your particular character?
I relate to Wedge in many ways, being one of those who contributes, is successful, and yet gets very little glory. Still we do our job because we are in it for the love of what we do, not what we might become (too deep?).

If you post often, where do you get ideas?
Yeah, that's the real trick, isn't it?

Like most of you, I am sure, we make it up as we go along. Ideas are borrowed from fellow bloggers, or pop into my head, or I use everyday experiences and apply them to my character.

I do enjoy making fun of the original star wars characters, such as Like and Han. It is one of those perspective things that you hear about on E!.

When I read all that info about humor, I understood more about why this type of humor would be funny. Having a neurotic Luke Skywalker and an over-bearing egotistical Han, as seen from those around him are amusing. In the same way that Yoda has created interesting personae for his fellow Jedi.

Where do you find pictures for use on your blog?
Google. I also reference the Star Wars web site data base on a regular basis. It is tough keeping track of everything in the SW universe. I do believe in staying true to the original ideas as much as we can.

A Army of (Cl)one

I would like to thank Master Yoda for inviting me join this blog. It only took a little begging on my part. I would also like to thank Lt. Cmdr. Onieda for her gentle help in getting me started.

Now the Bio stuff.

Who/How Old/Where/What
Age: 39

I work in politics at the state level.

What made you start a blog like this?
Late last summer (2005) I came across the “Call me do not! I will call you” Master Yoda post. I laughed so hard it hurt. In the fall I was picked up for a political campaign and Master Yoda helped keep me sane. Reading all the other posters made me want to try my hand at this and hope I could be as entertaining. I will apologize now for my numerous grammar mistakes that I have/will make when working on the AOC (thank Lt. Comdr Onieda for that nickname) Blog.

Why did you choose your particular character?
A lot of the main characters were taken and I had some trepidation about being able to carry off a main character. So I came up with the idea of a clone trooper who feels alone in the crowd.

If you post often, where do you get ideas?
I don’t post often enough yet. But I try to come up with funny or strange stories. I am trying to come up with several story lines based on comments I have made on other blogs. After that it will be POA. I have taken to my college habit of having a small note pad with me at all time to write down ideas as I get them.

Where do you find pictures for use on your blog?
I find most of the pictures from Google searches. I am going to play with Photoshop and see if I find any hidden creativity.

New Administrators

We have two new administrators, Michelle/Typho and Johnathan/Grievous. They both have been with the community for months and are technically savvy. I think you'll agree they are excellent choices to fill these slots.

In fact, there seemed to be a consensus, at least among those who bothered to comment, that Michelle and Johnathan would be good Administrators. So I figured they might as well have the positions.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered and offered their opinions!

Help Wanted: Blog Administrator

Here we grow again!

Star Wars Unplugged, a misFortune 500 blog, is looking to expand its Admin department by opening two more positions. The desired candidate would have good people skills (pet tricks are a plus), be able to type at least three words a minute, and have a Degree of Uncertainty from the School of Hard Knocks. Must be self-motivated and able to lift 40 lbs.

Seriously, we are down to one active Admin - Yours Truly. Shaak Ti/Ari has moved on to other things and Han/Phoenix has been busy with work. We agreed early on that we should have three admins, so I'm asking for two volunteers to step up. If more than two people volunteer, we may put it up to a vote.

Anyone who is an Admin for this blog must be mature, responsible, and somewhat able to remain active in this community for the long-term. There is no need for a large amount of technical expertise (though that is a plus, of course), as the general consensus among us has been to keep this blog pretty basic in design. So as long as you know how to set the links in your own blog, invite members, adjust the Blogger settings, and so forth, you should have enough technical knowledge. The important part, as stated before, is your maturity, responsibility, and commitment.

Admins should also remember that major decisions about this blog are made democratically by the entire group, not the admins themselves.

Anyone who is interested can post a comment or email me.

Can You Believe This

The world of music has hit a new low !!

Found this in my loser sons record collection.

Post Comment : Titles Of The Songs In This Album !!

Mr. Spork Sings

I may have missed this in some older postings, but I must share it with you all

Thanks, Mr. Spork.

I do find it interesting, although sometime a bit unconcerting, when we have cross-over between the universes (e.g. Star Wars and Star Trek). Add to that the time distortions (like myself and Onieda) and things get even more fascinating.

I am new at this and it is already a chore to think of things to write about. Some days an idea hits and it is easy.

Sorry, folks. just some Friday blahs... blah, blah, blah...

*Hey, man can I get another hit off that thing?*

I think I actually maybe , might have, figured it out ?

If you get a chance stop by My Puzzle blog. Let me know what you think.

The Idea is if every 2 weeks ? Each of you give me , by email, a " word " that would be unique to your post that week, and a clue that helps focus that to yor blog . I can then upload that with clues to create a crossword that requires people to read our blogs to solve !! The only down side is that I may not be able to use all words everyweek.

Might create new interest.

Sound interesting ? Let me know

Big Brother: Naboo

The hit new "reality" TV series, Big Brother: Naboo, hosted by Jar Jar and featuring Yoda, Padme, General Grievous, Jabba, and more has begun. If you're one of the people who e-mailed me to sign up, there should be an invite in your e-mail (or possibly your junk mail folder...). If you aren't competing, sit back and enjoy the show.

This spoof was not brought to you by Coke.

You fargen Bastages

Okay, the votes are in, and guess what? You guys voted me off! So, you guys are welcome for the site (which I can delete at any time and make you guys go through hell, but I am mature and will refrain from doing that) and you can go eat your star wars poop. Cardboard will prevail! And those of you who voted yes, I salute you!

and a quote from Jon The Intergalactic Gladiator:
"You really didn't seem too into doing Shak Ti. I'm glad you're doing what you want to do. You'll always have a spot at this lunch table, mostly because you built most of it..."

I guess all the cool kids dont like me.

Breaking Headlines

All evidence is not in,

but it appears that Secretary of State Rice may have
slept with President George W. Bush.

I will send details as they become available. All I have now is this photograph.

Hey guys (and gals), I would like to chat but I must work during the day. Maybe in the evenings. I live in San Diego.

See Ya!

Speaking of funny...

A man is sent to prison, his first night there and he gets into his bunk for lights out. Several minutes later someone yells out "43!"

Laughter resonates all up and down the cellblock.

He then hears another voice call out "20!" also followed by laughter.

After the laughter dies down, a third voice yells out "64."

The new con is puzzled by all the laughing and asks his cellmate what's going on.

"You see," says the old timer. "There's only one joke book in the prison library. Everyone who's here memorized them all, so when we want to tell a joke, we can just yell out the number for it."

He thinks about it for a moment and decides that he's going to give it a try so he yells out "13!'

He tries again, "39!"

Again, no laughter.

He tries once more, "5!"

The entire cell block is quiet.

He turns to his cellmate. "Hey, what gives?" he asks.

"Some people can tell a joke, others can't."

How to Be Funny

I think the ability to be funny is something you either have or you don't. I don't think it can necessarily be learned. However, the execution and mechanics can be learned, so that those with a sense of humor (most people) can learn to write or perform comedy at some level.

Some of us here use humor in our blogs, some of us (me) go straight for what we hope is funny, and others of us stick with the serious-minded role-play route. I read a post on the Dilbert Blog the other day that I think would be helpful for those of us who employ comedy in our blogs or for anyone who writes comedy. And Scott Adams knows funny. His Dilbert comic is in over 2000 newspapers worldwide.

In the post, Scott explains a theory of his called the "2 of 6 Rule". In a nutshell, in order to be funny something must fall into at least two of the following six categories:
Recognizable (Been there. Done that.)

Think about the funniest blog post, movie, or TV show you know and I bet you'll be able to describe it with at least two of those adjectives. Now think about a blog post, movie, or TV show that was supposed to be funny, but didn't quite hit the mark. Maybe it was really cute, but it just wasn't clever, cruel, bizarre, naughty, or recognizable enough.

Anyway, check out the link if you're interested. Hopefully you'll find it as helpful as I did.

Last time

I am starting to drift away from being Shaak Ti. I don't have much freedom to do what I want when I am Shaak Ti. I do when I am Cardbored Knight because i can video tape. I can't really stick with both Cardboredknight and Shaak Ti. So, I guess I am saying goodbye, but you guys can still talk to me and stuff on my Cardbored knight site. I would really appreciate it if you guys leave me messages on that blog instead. You guys are awesome, and I am glad you are dedicated. And I am pretty sure some people knew this would happen soon. So, good-bye, in a sense...
